Abdomen
Shape, skin, and the question behind a waistline goal.
Updated 17 October 2026
Start by separating the concerns
A change in the abdomen can involve skin, a localized fat deposit, posture, or a medical issue. Describe what you notice and how it has changed. A med spa consultation should not be used to diagnose a painful lump, a hernia, or unexplained swelling.
What to explore
Body contouring explains non-surgical device categories and their limits. The FDA says these procedures are not treatments for obesity and do not provide the health benefits of weight loss. Ask which device is proposed, which body site it is authorized for, and whether the assessment supports using it in your case.
If your goal concerns weight or metabolic health, the GLP-1 guide explains a different, prescription-based discussion. It should not be bundled casually into a cosmetic treatment package.
Bring your history
Tell the clinician about abdominal surgery, scars, pregnancy, hernias, implants, and previous procedures. Ask whether these change the suitability of the proposed device. Request a clear explanation of what the treatment can leave unchanged.
Plan the decision
Ask for the full course price, the number of visits proposed, how results will be assessed, and the policy if further treatment is suggested. Include follow-up and possible time away from activities in the comparison.
